Ratt Takes It to the Extreme

It may not be the most conventional double-bill Ratt has ever participated in, but that’s certainly not a bad thing. Sure, there was nothing bad about the band’s recent tours with contemporaries like Poison (“Ratt Poison” was certainly a catchy tour name), and their participation in the Rock Never Stops package, but there’s a lot to be gained¬† in pairing with a less obvious choice like Extreme. This particular band got its start a bit later than Ratt, and hit their stride in the early ’90s as an act that embraced a newer sound while still retaining many of the elements that made ’80s metal so popular. Like Ratt, Extreme recently reformed with a near original line-up and are setting out to greet fans new and old on the road. Their new album, Saudades de Rock, came out last year, while Ratt’s next release is slated for later in 2009. At any rate, the vocal stylings of Stephen Pearcy and Gary Cherone, the furious guitar riffs of the respected Warren DeMartini and Nuno Bettencourt, and all the rest of the band’s members are sure to impress the fans when they play their first show together on July 12 in Amarillo, Texas. To be known as the “East Meets West Tour”, Bettencourt adds: “One hot summer night. Two bands fully loaded with musicianship. Mix in one part memorable songwriting. Add nine ounces of passionate performers. Throw in three well-respected guitarists. Add a touch of West Coast raunch and a hint of East Coast funk. And you get yourself a recipe for one night of unforgettable rock and roll.” Visit Extreme at www.extreme-band.com, Ratt at www.therattpack.com, and see the dates below (** denotes Ratt only).
