Lake Tahoe will see the union of two of rock’s most successful bands on August 3.
The Doobie Brothers and BOSTON have joined forces for a limited amount of shows together in 2014, and the Outdoor Arena at Harveys is on their list.
Between them are more than 75 million records sold and countless hits still impossible to escape on radio, and in today’s pop culture. But just because they’ve been around since the 1970s doesn’t mean they haven’t kept up with the times. The bands are active on social media and can boast a combined 3 million fans on Facebook.
Led by founding members Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons, along with longtime guitarist John McFee, the Doobie Brothers continue to garner rave reviews for their shows, which have also been featuring Simmons’ son, Pat Jr., as the opening act.
A documentary on the band was released in 2012, and there are plans for a new collaboration album with country megastars which will also see a reunion with ex-Doobie Michael McDonald.
If there’s one band that could give the Doobies a run for their money, however, it’s BOSTON. Led by Tom Scholz with the mighty Tommy DeCarlo on lead vocals, there’s no question the band is enjoying a resurgence as of late. Their first new album in 11 years hit shelves last December.
Lake Tahoe fans should prepare for a night of friendly, but dueling excellence when these two rock giants hit the stage.
