WASHINGTON, D.C. – His mixes are tight and his fans are some of EDM’s most loyal.

R3HAB made the hottest music venue in Washington, D.C. a little hotter on Saturday as he delivered a face-melting night of huge, textured sound.

But before R3HAB could infiltrate, twin sister duo NERVO served up a slice of the style that’s made them favorites at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival for several years running. They’ve also worked the Las Vegas circuit with a residency at Hakkasan Nightclub in the MGM Grand Las Vegas.

These two Australians are still in the early stages of their career, but judging by their reception here, it’s looking promising.

Even far removed from Florida beaches or Las Vegas sands, they sparked the crowd to life.

D.C. is hardly known as a hub for EDM, but Echostage doesn’t care.

Outside, a line stretched almost around the block made Queens Chapel Road in the northeast neighborhood look a lot more like Hollywood Boulevard or the Las Vegas strip.

Inside, the difference was indiscernible.

The venue commands attention with its massive lighting system, ample dance floor, and sprawling VIP lofts. It’s built for nights like this. The kind of night where the dance floor can’t be seen through the swelling, jumping, and pulsing crowd.

When R3HAB seamlessly took the helm from the Australian twins, any shred of resistance keeping the place from a full-on rave was shattered.

The ground shook. The LED screens flashed. Hands were in the air.

Vegas? D.C.? Miami? It didn’t matter.

Knowing just when to build hype and just when to cool down, R3HAB blended the club anthems with precision. The first few seconds of that famous techno riff of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” brought the crowd to a complete frenzy.

Aside from his DJ talents, R3HAB is a marketing extraordinaire – or at least he’s good at playing one.

“I Need R3HAB” is his self-appointed catch phrase. Fans closer to the stage can find themselves walking out with a pair of slotted ‘R3HAB’ glasses if they’re lucky.

Echostage has plenty more party to offer during the rest of spring. The signature ‘GLOW’ series will rotate an array of DJ talent including Borgore and Chuckie on Apr. 25, Thomas Gold w/ Fehrplay on May 2, and Benny Benassi on May 17. Even Paris Hilton gets in on the action on May 9.
